This is an amazingly detailed study that clearly took much time and consideration to assemble. It serves as a ready resource for anyone interested in the subject of hope from a Biblical point of view.

My favorite takeaway is:

”But hope for Eternal Life should motivate us the most.”

Powerful.

Comment on WORLD RELIGIONS 2017, TAOISM by Terry L Austin

Thank you for your comments. The study on Taoism was for the purpose of exposing Christian believers to the major world religions practiced by people throughout the world. It included 18 major religions as determined by the number of people practicing that religion and is not to be construed to be all inclusive of every religion being practiced. Your comments are very well taken, and the study on this site is only a part of the actual study as there were many more comments and questions asked than could be put into this posting. The study was in no way an attempt to convert anyone from one religion to another. Remember the emphasis was for Christians to learn about other religions and see the similarities and differences in other religious studies.

This insightful post has many great takeaways as we enter 2018. My favorite is the discussion of "weaning.," the removal of something we at one time thought we couldn't exist without. As a baby attaches to its mother's breast--a principal part of its world--we as adults also attach ourselves to the things of our world, that which pleases or satisfies us and which we come to feel we can't live without. Whereas a baby eagerly seeks the breast that feeds it--and complains when it's taken away-- we adults stubbornly adhere to our desires, and resist even when the instructions of God seek to wean us from these desires. As we proceed into 2018, Pastor Terry's article serves as a powerful guide for our steps.

A wonderful explanation of the scripture from Matthew regarding the birth and name of Jesus as understood in the first century. Tying the verses together gives one the understanding lacking when read normally. The deeper message is the most important. Thank you Richard for wonderful insight.
